No. You need a computer to run this software. Routers typically do not have enough storage space or comptuational to run such programs.

Ok!
I wish to use an old pc, 1Ghz with a open source free & user- friendly specific OS, as a router: I just need to buy a cabinet but I have a HD 30 Gb, 500 Mb Random access memory and a broadband DSL to download/ upload.
It could work only for this single use as well as my user activities can take place on another desktop workstation.
Only issue: this wish to be a low resource system.

Have a look at this:

If low-resource is your thing, you might want to look at pluggable computers. Running an old computer chews through power more than you think.

Note that often in order to minimise their power consumption, these chips are not x86 or x86-64 chips, but are rather ARM CPUs.

However, ubuntu does not officially publish an ARM version -- though the project from which ubuntu packages are mostly drawn (debian) does. So there is a good chance that you can get this to work using one of these + a USB hdd.
