reponse code 500 (internal server error)

In "Client Bit torrent Transmission" I get following message when launching a torrent

"the tracker gave a warning: Announce failed : Tracker gave HTTP response code 500 (internal server error)" - Inactif

. What is wrong, my configuration or the tracker ?

That means you can't get the file from the tracker. Try to find another tracker for the file. Usually illegal downloads hit this a lot. It seems to be much less frequent with legit downloads.

Most likely the Tracker. Transmission tried to make an http connection to the tracker to get a list of peers from it, and the tracker responsed with an HTTP 500 error that indicates something is wrong with the tracker.

Michael's suggestion of using another Tracker is a good idea.

If this is a tracker that you like using, you might try waiting awhile to see if it comes back online, or to visit the tracker's webpage or forums to see if the tracker's admins have reported any news.
