Wher can I download codecs for Totem? Synaptic is no help

After days of working with this problem I've discovered that if the codecs are not availale through the repositories you wiil not be ablr to use the dvd.I'm currently running edgy and as far as I can tell, upgrades are not available anymore. But, then releases are only supported for 18 months
