streaming audio help needed

Asked by Jeff Goss

I am trying to set up Ubutu for the first time.

Is "Totem" the app required to run streaming audio? And, if so, what do I need to do to keep from getting this error message....

Totem could not play 'mms://a255.v5020f.c5020.g.vm.akamaistream.net/7/255/5020/v0001/
rushlimb.download.akamai.com/5020/clips/06/05/051106_8_schumer.wma'.

Hello,

Ubuntu is a free operating system and because of this can not play commonly used media types like wma, mp3, avi, mov, mpeg and so on, these are restricted. Although there is an option to get the necessary codecs and play these files :).

If you use Ubuntu 5.10 Breezy Badger than I advise you to use EasyUbuntu a program that installs everything automatically just with a simple click.

If you use DapperDrake BETA or you do not prefer EasyUbuntu use this link https://wiki.ubuntu.com/RestrictedFormats

At the link above you will get all the necessary information connected to restricted formats, legal issues and so on.

Can you help with this problem?
