saving .wmv files

Asked by mangemerde

With Totem I can watch and hear the content of those .wmv files, so it has nothing to do with codecs, but I cannot find them in my computer, and yet they are in the "File" in Totem.
So where are they hidden?

Where did you got "those" .wmv files from?

You can also seek in

/tmp/
/var/tmp/
/home/$USER/.cache/

And be aware... they could be named another way than you expect.

Thanks Midnightflash, but those files are not on my computer :-(. In
fact, Totem when I was clicking
in "Files", was going behind my back to the Internet site and
downloading the file again.
I'm new in Ubuntu and was used to Windows.
I have Gnome Media Player,
Movie Player (Totem)
Mplayer
VLC installed, and none seem to be able to save those blooming files.

Maybe I need another programme or an add on? Or even a plug-in in Firefox?

I bought two expensive books on Ubuntu, and none mentions how to save
.WMV files.

I have been told that the learning curve for Linux is very steep...How
true..

Regards, Claude.

This is not a Linux-question... It would also be nearly impossible to get these files with Win.

But try DownloadHelper:
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/3006

This might help you... Just give it a shot.
And/but some Webmasters are really so hard... you cannot download the files at all.

I downloaded and installed (very easy) Download Helper for Firefox, from:

http://www.downloadhelper.net/ and now I can save those .WMV files without problem.

Thank Midnightflash.
