error updating manager

Hello everone,

i´ve tried to update with the update manager & i get an error message sayn ¨COULD NOT DOWNLOAD ALL REPOSITORY INDEXES¨,please anyone help me, i wana play a movie that using the avi format. and i am new in ubuntu OS.

lsb_release -a

Try to post whatever displays when you issue the commands below on the terminal:

dig archive.ubuntu.com

can you please provide the output of:

sudo apt-get update; sudo apt-get dist-upgrade

also run:

sudo apt-get clean

first (useful that one)

its shows ¨some index files failed to download, they have been ignored, or old ones used instead¨

i´ve key in sudo apt-get dist-upgrade , n i get ¨0 upgraded, o newly installed, o to remove and 0 not upgraded¨

/etc/apt/sources.list
