totem package

totem player issue

totem only plays ubuntu's sample video at the home directory. other than that whatever video file i select there is blackscreen but audio is fine, it plays but black screen.

lsb_release -a; uname -a; apt-cache policy totem

using ubuntu 18.04.2 with kernel 4.18.0-18 and totem version 3.26.0-0ubuntu6.2

actually using vlc player and works well. i just wanted to ask why totem can not make it. i am using ubuntu about for 8 moths and except the totem it just works well.

If you install the ubuntu-restricted-extras does it help? It install lots of codecs and goodies. May help

i have installed the ubuntu-restricted-extras but some says uninstalling gstreamer1.0-vaapi pakage could fix it. i guess i won't uninstall it, don't want to break down the working system. Anyway thank you.
