Hello,

These formats like MPG, AVI, MP3, MPEG, MOV are not free formats and they are not supported by ubuntu linux, because ubuntu is a free OS so just follow this wiki in order to play these files https://wiki.ubuntu.com/RestrictedFormats

you can use xmms instead of totem. Its a good program , with a gui similar to the winamp one. It has got the support for mp3 files.

Can you help with this problem?
