Sound, but no picture Totem & VLC !!!!! Ati Vga

Totem, OR VLC: Sound ok, but no picture. Ati Radeon 9800 Pro AIGLX, Beryl installed. If i move the windows, somtimes some picture. Codecs: latest.

Thanks for you question, to solve it I can ask you to disable beryl and retry to see the picture.

Good Day !

Disabling Beryl solved the problem. But, on other machine with nvidia card (and driver) works fine with Beryl. Seems to be the accelerated ATI driver?

Probably yes, ati has some problems with linux. It had a bad linux philosophy :(

I have nvidia NV17 (Geforce MX440). .
When I use Totem (2.18.1, use Gstream 0.10.12 and gnome) in Ubuntu 7.04 and in UbuntuStudio 7.04,/
  --it works fine for format *.mp3, *.wmv, *.avi, *.wma, *.mpegbut ,
  --but for *.MPG, the picture not move and no sound, for *.rm, *.rmvb only sound and no vedio,
  --for *.mp4, *.ra, *.asf, *.ASF, *.DAT(in VCD) not work at all.
I have already done everything required to install or upgrade the plugins, but the result is same.

But strange, in my another FC5 LINUX system (also gnome) on different partition on same HD, the totem version is 1.40 with xine xlib1.12, it works very well (sound and vedio) for all above mentioned format.,

Could someone indicate what is the problem and how can I fix it in Ubuntu.
