totem package

totem video playback is distorted and/or black

When I open an avi file in totem. I can usually see the video for a 1/2 second or so, then the screen turns black. I still have audio. If I go to full screen, I get video again for 1/2 second or so, then black again. Sometimes I get a small part of the screen showing. usually on the far right side.

anyone else have this problem?

Hello,

Try turning off Compiz. You can do this by installing the fusion-icon package.

installed fusion icon package.... cant figure out how to turn off Compiz.

Got it. I switched to Metacity. files seem to play properly now.
