streaming video

I have openoffoce 2.2 version. I cannot play/stream any video from any media source, eg. cnn video, bbcnews video ctv.ca video, mtv video or my more frecuent: vtv.gob.ve live transmition, globovision.com live transmition. what do I need to do?. On the other hand, youutube video does work.

Hi,

Please run following commands:

sudo aptitude update
sude aptitude install xine-ui libxine1-x libxine1 firefox vlc

Make sure Firefox is version 3.0.1. Make sure you also install the MediaPlayerConnectivity plugin for Firefox here:

https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/446

Configure the MediaPlayerConnectivity plugin so that it uses xine for viewing .asf video streams. If this does not work, reconfigure the MediaPlayerConnectivity plugin to use vlc player for viewing .asf video streams.

Hi Mark,
I am also having this very same issue with the live video (Senal en Vivo) of globovision.com .I tried to follow your steps but it didn't work either.

I am able to play videos from other websites such as: youtube.com, etc..

Hi Carlos,

That's strange, because - for me at least - my advice still works when using Firefox 3.0.6 with MediaPlayerConnectivity plugin for Firefox on Ubuntu 8.10. I have configured the plugin to use /usr/bin/X11/vlc as media player for all Firefox media types.

I just tested this method again on the live video (Senal en Vivo) of globovision.com and it works, both sound and video are working.
