Ubuntu installed, totem does not work, says URI handler not installed for DVD????

I am novice with ubuntu that I installed on my sony laptop. tried to play DVD movies. Totem will not play the DVD saying the URI handler is not installed. What is it any way, and how to get the necessary patches and how to install it. Installing in linux to me seems entirely different from windows install and I am not familiar with command line operation also. Do help me get this thing going.

There are some formats which are not playable "out of the box" because there are restrictions in place which prevent free distribution of the tools and utilities required to make them work.

Take a look at the following page which details the reasons and how to get the good stuff required to make Ubuntu able to play some of these formats:-
