I have ubuntu 12.04. I cannot seem to play a DVD. I have installed the libdvd codecs and still cannot get the movie to load. The disk will spin and the movie player opens but won't load. However If I open VLC it will play the movie but the colors are inverted and the playback is choppy. The movie plays but the pictures sort of hesitate or just freeze for a moment and then will catch up to the sound. I do not know what to do to fix this. It all worked fine in Ubuntu 10.04

Any help would be appreciated.

sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install --renstall libdvdread4
sudo /usr/share/doc/libdvdread4/install-css.sh
sudo apt-get upgrade

Also try in Unity2D session, is it ok there
