Ubuntu

can't open streams through movieplayer, vlc, or others

Asked by brian connoly on 2012-04-15

I can't seem to listen to music streams through any external player. The browser will play them but not movie player or vlc. It says every time, "error occurred, location not found."

Where are you getting the stream from?

From shoutcast radio stations

Do you click the link and want the media player to load or do you copy the link and paste it into the player manually, or is it a file of some sort?

When I click the link, shoutcast website will play it. I like to listen through vlc though because I can record the stream. vlc won't play it though, nor will any external player, i.e. movie player, Gnome player, etc.

Do you have a sample web page I can have a look at to see what is going on :)

Thanks
