Can you clarify your question:

* Do you currently have hardware and it is not working for you?

Or,

* You do not have hardware, and are looking for some advice to purchase one?

OK, great.

You need to follow the instructions here:
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/RestrictedFormats

For legal reasons, ubuntu does not distribute DVD playback software.

Hi Iori,

your question is marked as solved, so not many people will view it. However, if you wish to free up space, I recommend installing "localepurge" from a command line, then selecting your native language as the only language to retain. This can free up a fair bit of space. Otherwise, simply uninstall programs you don't use or need.
