totem package

new to linux - having trouble getting the dvd player to work

I believe I have added the necessary packages, still cannot get the dvd player to read the dvd.

or...

sudo apt-get install vlc

it will install the VLC player with its all dependencies.

libdvdread4 isn't a dependancy of vlc, so installing vlc will not enable DVD playback. The command I gave is from here:
