i am not able to play songs n vedios existing in my lappy

i had installed linux 2day. before this i was using windows 7.the songs n vedios which i used to play with vlc media player or windows media player is not playing in this os

Hi, do this:
1. Open a terminal by hitting CTRL + ALT + T
2. Enter this command
sudo apt-get install non-free-codecs

3. After the installation, try to open songs and videos now.
