Desktop and movie seems to freeze when playing a divx/xvid .avi movie.

Asked by xydean

Hi,
I'm using Totem Movie Player using GStreamer 0.10.14 and GNOME. The desktop and movie seems to freeze when playing a divx/xvid .avi movie. I'm using 64bit Gutsy with all the updates and with 32bit libraries installed. It's happening with all the movies I've played so it doesn't seem to be a problem with the movie file. Another thing is, the processor usage seems to jump to about 60-70% when it happens and then it suddenly drops to about 3-5% where it usually is. Any idea what the problem might be?

More info: The desktop and movie freezes it happens for 10-15secs with the sound still playing and the processor at 60-70%, then it drops to 3-5% and everything returns to normal. this repeats every minute or two.
