Gstreamer in mplayer

I recently installed ubuntu 11.04. I am a complete amateur in Linux. When I insert DVD and try to use mplayer I receive following message " Gstreamer encountered a general resource error." Is something missing from mplayer. Do I need plugin

I have solved my problem. Went to Software and installed Gstreamer extra plugins. I thought when you started a program which needed plugins that program notified you and searched for the plugins, however mplayer now working perfectly.
