I cannot play a dvd and it says I need a plug in

I am new to this and I cannot play a dvd it says I need a plug in and I don't have a clue on what to do. I did the search and it didn't find any plug in. If I can't play my dvds I will have to change.

Hello,

Go to the Synaptic Package Manager or the Ubuntu Software Center and install all the non-free Codecs.

Because of copyright laws Ubuntu leaves it to the individual to install them.
