Tim,

The LIRC error would NOT prevent you from playing a DVD - this is just saying there is a problem with the remote control subsystem. I often see a similar error message, but am still able to play the video.

Have you installed the required DVD libraries? You can see my directions at http://sites.google.com/site/alucidfs/how-i-do/enable-dvd-video-playback

Ok, I have been looking to download plugins, and I barely understand what is what. Where do I activate these DVD libraries?
