totem package

playing DVD movies with VLC or Totem

with Totem and VLC I get error messages saying the file cannot be opened. I hve been trying all day long to play one movie. I installed ubuntu 10.04 LTS today. Thank you!

I do not know what I did or what I learned, but the movies play on VLC and on Movie Player. I downloaded and installed everything I could find in help pages
and the specific ones for playing movies made the difference.
