Does Totem implement ReplayGain?

Asked by Marcus Granado

I've been trying to find out if Totem implements the Replay Gain specification
(http://www.replaygain.org/), see also http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Replay_Gain ,but I couldn't find any info on that.

Totem and other players are just front ends which use gstreamer as a backend which does support replaygain. That being said, Totem does have the possibility to use replaygain but only if that functionality is programed in. If you take a look at this post (http://www.hydrogenaudio.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=36285) you'll see that another frontend to gstreamer supports only some formats with replaygain, but note that the post is from 2005.

When looking though the Totem bugzilla, I found a few bugs which relate to the replaygain support you are looking for. For example:
http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=127574
http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=165834

I would say that gstreamer has the support for it as long as the audio format (mp3, flac, ogg) is supported. I would look into either communicating with Totem devs by making a bug report after testing what does and doesn't work. You could also check into Rhythmbox or XMMS, which have replaygain support as a feature. Let me know if you have any other questions.

Can you help with this problem?
