Sadly, it has not come far enough. I am still having the same problem in Feisty... TODAY.
Dvd autoplays fine, but brings up an error message if opened from File->Play Disk.
Doesn't display subtitles or bring up any menus...
After a whole year...

I know it's not recommended, but I am afraid I am going to have to do what I always did before: Install totem-xine... :(
