CVE-2020-1938;

This has been resolved in : 8.5.51.

will a similar update come to the ubuntu apt repo. i see that tomat9 has also not been update to address this.

tomcat7/8/9 are in the "universe" repository, so they are only supported by the community and not by Canonical.

This means that some enthusiast has to collect the required patches and build a new version with these.
