I suggest you report a bug. If the bug and security fixes are significant then it will be updated

@Jacob: If you are also running Ubuntu 14.04 LTS 64-bit, please try the following installation procedure to upgrade to Tomcat version 9.0.0-dev :

I actually just wanted to update to the latest bug fix release of Tomcat 8 via the package instead of installing from source.
