Trying to install libtcnative-1

Asked by MIchael Curran

I have been trying to install tomcat-native library for Ubuntu 8.04 Hardy, but cannot seem to locate the package. Is this because it is not available for 8.04?

It's not unfortunately:

Nor can I find a PPA. You could try using the Karmic deb but you will probably get dependency issues as karmic has drastically later versions of the packages which will be needed, so you will have a half Hardy, half Karmic mess. I suggest you simply upgrade to Lucid which you can do in one move and get the package you desire

Thanks -- will do some compiling instead. This is a VM on 3.5esx and we are limited to 8.04 for support at the moment. Once we upgrade the ESX version we will be able to upgrade OS's as well, but need to build the server now. No worries, just wanted to make sure I wasnt going batty :)
