want to install thunderbird 3.0

want to install thunderbird 3.0 but all i get is error messages[[ can not open can not read ]] .. downloaded from mozilla home page to downloads extracted try to use get-it to install ; said can not read .

checked out how to install on the web had one line code to use ; worked but when i closed the terminal it was gone restarted pc got the test message from that try ,but no 3.0..

after adding the ppa/ubuntu i had to go to synaptic package manager undate then do a search and install all 5 items after remove of thunderbird2.0 . then did a restart ,then i found it under internet and add to panel open it ; and it work . did not have to do anything it keep my old emails and got new ones with easy ...
