thunderbird does not start

Asked by nicolacarrabba

when i start Thunderbird the following message appears:
Thunderbird is already running, but is not responding. To open a new window, you must first close the Thunderbird process, or restart your system.

I have tried to uninstall and reinstall the program but the message always appears.

Try logging out and back in. In Linux you can remove a running
application and it will stay running. The program is probably hung.

You could also open up the gnome system monitor and end the program in
there, or open the terminal and type pkill thunderbird (which should
kill it).
