Thunderbird 78.14 for focal?

Asked by Holger Flörke

Will the security update of thunderbird - version 78.14 - integrated into the official focal-repositories?

There is a new upstream release for thunderbird and the update is also available in http://ppa.launchpad.net/mozillateam/ppa/ubuntu. Do I have to integrate the mozillateam launchpad repository to get the security fixes or will it be integrated into the standard repositories for LTS?

Holger

The description in the PPA for Ubuntu Mozilla Security Team tells
"Staging PPA for Mozilla and other browser-related security updates. Unless you are testing updates, you should NOT install packages from this PPA."

I advise against adding that PPA unless you want to do testing, and recommend that you are patient. I expect that a new version of thunderbird will be published in the standard repositories sooner or later. Maybe they are skipping 78.14.0 and directly jump onto a higher version (e.g. 91.3.0, already in jammy)

Sorry, my fault. The quote about "do not use unless testing" belongs to a different PPA.
In any case, the summary (please be patient), however. stays the same for all PPAs.

see https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/thunderbird/+publishinghistory

Thunderbird 78.14 has been published for focal in the official repositories on 2021-11-11

My guess is that version 91.* will follow soon.
