Migrate data from Thunderbird deb to snap

Asked by Daniel Dewberry

Having used the Thunderbird deb package for some time, i now wish to move to the Snap.
Upon opening the Snap, my existing Thunderbird configurations and data are not detected.
I'd appreciate it if you could explain how to migrate my thunderbird preferences and data from the deb (v68.10.0) to snap (v78.7.1). on 20.04
I do not wish to lose the various settings I have accumulated whilst using the deb package.

The following attempt did not yield the expected results.

cd ~/snap/thunderbird/common/

cp -r ~/.cache/thunderbird .cache/
cp -r ~/.thunderbird .
cp -r ~/.mozilla .

I am still asked to "Set Up Your Existing Email Address". The "Import settings and Mail Folders" does not detected any data either, displaying only a message to that effect.
