Using ubuntu how do I install thunderbird?

Asked by Patrick

I'm new to ubuntu, I've managed to download Thunderbird to the desktop but can't figure out how to install it so I can use it. I'm running firefox 3.0.7 using version 8.10 of ubuntu. As of right now I have thunderbird folder on the desktop but can't figure out how to open it in order to make it appear in working order either on top of my desktop like Evolution is or in the firefox toolbar. Any help would be appreciated.

TIA

Hi

1. Go to Applications menu on top bar beside the unbuntu logo.

2. Click Add/Remove

3. type in search box "Thunderbird" without " " and it will search for you.

4. Tick the box you want to install and click Apply.

5. It will automatically install and it in Applications menu under Internet and you will see thunderbird there.

Hope this help. :-)

If you can't find it there try going up to the top taskbar again but this time click on

System - Administration - Synaptic Package Manager

it asks for your normal user password, not your SuperUser/Root one. Use either search tool to find thunderbird and right-click to install it. Then click on "Apply". Note that all packages marked with a green blob are already installed.

It might be installed already but is just hidden in the

Applications - Internet

menu. Good luck with this
