Sudden thunderbird interface error

Asked by memetali

My e-mail client is Mozilla Thunderbird and I have been using it for quite a long time. Today suddenly the interface broke down. Whenever I try to open the program there is a weird appearance on the screen and it blocks all the system. For two minutes I have to wait for the system to work properly again.

I tried to reinstall from synaptic; didn't work. I uninstalled and installed again; didn't work. I uninstalled from the terminal via ubuntuzilla, then I heard that there are problems with ubuntuzilla on Hardy, I uninstalled ubuntuzilla too, then reinstalled via add/remove programs; didn't work.

I have a back of my personal data. What should I do know. Might it because of my personal ".mozilla-thunderbird" files? Should I also delete them? Or what should I do?

Please help me because thunderbird is my arms and legs.

I have solved the problem myself. Let me share with anyone who might have the same problem.

Go to your own file: Places=> Home Folder. From view mark "Show Hidden Files". Go to ".mozilla-thunderbird" This is where all your personal information is stored, including e-mails, extensions, preferences, etc. My problem was because of the theme extension, so I found it under "extensions" file and delete. Don't delete anything unless you are not so sure. In case of any mistake you can make, back up all the ".mozilla-thunderbird" file to some other place. This is also how you can carry all your e-mails from one computer to the other.
