thunderbird installed w/o ubuntu, can´t find it

You don't need to use the Mozilla supplied. You can look for the mozilla-thunderbird-locale-de package in Synaptic and you'll be able to get German Thunderbird.

openOffice-Suite?

Ticket Closed. Thunderbird unpacked in the tmp folder (sic) and there it
was.

install the language-support-de package and the Deutsch support for all the apps will be enabled. Don't forget to close the ticket by using Launchpad web interface and "add comment" in your ticket. Hope that it helps.
