Evolution: setting up my work zimbra account
Dear ALL,
I am setting up my work zimbra account, slubkin@
My efforts have so far been unsuccessful.
These are the instructions (which work) to set it up correctlyfor Thunderbird (supplied by systems manager):
Configuring Thunderbird
Thunderbird is a free email client that runs on Windows, Mac OS and many variants of Unix. These setup instructions should work for both home (remote) computers as well as computers within the department.
On department Macintosh computers, you can find Thunderbird in Applications > URMath. Otherwise you will need to download and install the application from the Thunderbird web site.
From the Tools menu, select Account Settings. From Account Actions at bottom left, choose Add Mail Account. For the Email address, enter NetID@z.
Thunderbird will probe the server to try and figure out appropriate settings. When it's done, click Manual Config. Verify the following settings:
Under Incoming, choose IMAP. The Server hostname should be imap.z.
Under Outgoing, choose SMTP. The Port should be 465 and SSL should be SSL/TLS. Authentication should be Normal password.
Username should be your NetID. Click Create Account. You're done!
If you would like your mail to appear to come from some other address (like <email address hidden>, click on the Tools menu again and select Account Settings. In the left-hand pane, make sure NetID@z.
My efforts to translate the above to the setting up of Evolution mail has failed. I would appreciate advice on how to interpret these settings in evolution mail.
Thank you,
-- Saul
