Importing PST Outlook files to Thunderbird

Asked by candy man_2003

Hi,

I recently changed my laptop to SAMSUNG 300E4A-B08 and willing to migrate to Ubuntu for good.
the biggest challenge in that process is to have my email message on Ubuntu. I tried Thunderbird - which is a great application actually- and configured my work mail correctly and I'm able now to receive my emails.

but I still need to import my outlook PST archive file - which I have right now saved in external disk - to Thunderbird.
is there any way that allows me to import this file to Thunderbird ?

thanks in advance for your cooperation.
Regards,

Take a look here. I have not tried this my self but looks easy enough

Alternatively install evolution from the software centre. Its an alternative email client. It can import from outlook. I did it last year when I finally got my daughter away from Windows.

Dear Warren,

I tried Evolution before and it really gave me a lousy time.
All what I need is to install a plugin to Thunderbird to enable me accessing PST archives which I have on external disk.
thanks for your efforts but I'm still waiting for a reply.

thanks again.

On suggestion I did find if you access to windows machine is to a windows machine is to import the mail back into outlook and install thunderbird. You can then install thunderbird and ask it to import your mail. Once done you can then export it to a file then reimport it on your Ubuntu PC.

A friend of mine did that when he got rid of Windows but this requires you to have access to a windows machine. I'm not aware of any other way to do it maybe somebody else can help

but take a look here. I can't vouch for any of this as I have not tried it my self but It looks like it may help.
