sorry my knowlage if very limited when it comes to using Sudo commands in the terminal ,
I have not tried that , what command should i use to run it

i have started thunderbird from the terminal and i get the same crash reportand the same problem

Is there any output in the terminal after the crash though?

iaine (ian-looseenz) said : #5

The only message on the terminal screen is ' enigmail. js: Registered components ' and then it returns to the promt.

thunderbird then opens and again if i try and use any function it then crashes and then mozilla crash reporter pops up

I have removed all the addon that were on thnuderbird, and then reinstalled them 1 by 1 and that has cured the problem , thunderbird is working fine now , thanks for all your help
