thunderbird keeps crashing

I have just loaded ubuntu 12.04 on my PC ( thinkpad E520), the only thing that is not working is thunderbird,
every time i open thunderbird , it automaticly check emails , and if i then click on any function, it crashes, ie closes completly and produces a mozilla crash report

I have reinstalled both thunderbird and ubuntu 12.04 still same problem,
i have installed thunderbird using sudo commands but as soon as i copy my files(restore from my backup hard drive )back on to my PC i get the same problem.(backup was made in ubuntu 11.04

If you run:

thunderbird

in terminal, when it crashes, what is output?

 sorry my knowlage if very limited when it comes to using Sudo commands in the terminal ,
I have not tried that , what command should i use to run it

i have started thunderbird from the terminal and i get the same crash reportand the same problem

Is there any output in the terminal after the crash though?

The only message on the terminal screen is ' enigmail. js: Registered components ' and then it returns to the promt.

thunderbird then opens and again if i try and use any function it then crashes and then mozilla crash reporter pops up

I have removed all the addon that were on thnuderbird, and then reinstalled them 1 by 1 and that has cured the problem , thunderbird is working fine now , thanks for all your help
