Iphone issues

I am running Ubuntu 11.10 and I can't seem to get it to sync with my Iphone 3GS. It recognises it as a camera & music player but I can't get it to sync with email.

The e-mails will not be synchronised like files. You need to synchronise via e-mail reader itself.
It will be done automatically if you use IMAP protocol instead of POP3.

Thanks for the info but I need a more of an explanation since I am a tech neophyte. Also two thinks you may need to know:

1) I am running Evolution for email not Thunderbird. Is Thunderbird better?
2) My ISP is Verizon Can I change to IMAP instead of POP3 with them?

p.s. I don't know if this is relevant, but ever since I upgraded to to 11.10 i keep getting the following message when I sent an email:

Your message was sent, but an error occurred during post-processing.
The reported error was "Failed to append to mbox:///home/dagreen1/.local/share/evolution/mail/local#Sent: Invalid folder URI 'mbox:///home/dagreen1/.local/share/evolution/mail/local#Sent'
Appending to local 'Sent' folder instead.".

Now there is a new wrinkle. I just connected my IPhone to my computer & received the following error:

"Unable to Mount Don"

"Unhandled Lockdown error (-15)"

It's never easy!!

1) I changed from Evolution to Thunderbird after many issues. Perhaps I was unlucky, or perhaps thunderbird is more reliable. As Canonical did the same for 11.10, I think more about second one.
2) We don't have Verizon in France.

Never forget Google is your best friend.
Both Evolution and Thunderbird can use IMAP.

About error message, I'm not using Evolution now, and there is few support on forum on this software. You should raise a bug on this subject
