starting Firefox from an adresse on Thunderbird

Asked by louis kolli

Bonjour,

------> in English
Ubuntu 11.10 - Mozilla Firefox 7.0.1 - Mozilla Thunderbird 7.0.1

Using Thunderbird, When I "click" on an adress web which is in a message, Firefox start but, each time, the adress of the site is losted. In the bar adress there is "www.%u"

I cannot say if it's Ubuntu 11.10 or Thunderbird or Firefox.
Someone have an idea about this ? I tried to start both with desactivated modules. It's still the same

Thunderbird 7.0.1 : quand je clique sur une adresse mail, ce dernier me propose de rédiger à nouveau message à cette adresse.
Système->Applications favorites: Vérifie que le courrier est bien associé à Thunderbird.

I verified. And It was ok. And the problem still there.

I saw the bug #168967. It is the same I got.

"It was as simple as to go to Edit | Preferences | Attachments in Thunderbird and remove the Firefox from the HTTP and HTTPS as program to open. Somehow it did not work correctly though Firefox was defined there.
After I removed the selection and then tried to open the web link from open email, I got the option to choose the program and select Firefox again and now it works as it should. "

I tried to do what is described, but I don't find the HTTP and HTTPS option as it's written there. I've inspected all of the "preferences"

Could you check URL of bug. This doesn't seem related to Thunderbird.

It's not a bug, but a question.

This seems like a bug to me.. "%u" is probably the url and I think it's a bug in Thunderbird..

What is probably the problem: Thunderbird hasn't parsed the link correctly. It needs to replace %u with the website you've clicked on..

In this case, convert question into a bug.

It's now Ok.

I have done a mix with what is indicated by Husain in the answer #11 and what is indicated in the answer #5 (create a user.js file in profile Thunderbird)

The both maid me arrive to a solution
