Password for POP in Thunderbird

Asked by Torben Amtrup

My Thunderbird can send, but not receive mails. I can set my password for SMTP in the Properties pages; but there is no place to set password for POP. Or is there? What is a global password?

On the other hand my Evolution can receive but not send mails, probably because I can't set the correct port number for SMTP.

So I have to use two different programs for sending and receiving e-mails, and that is annoying!

Can anybody help me? please, thanks.

There is no global password or everybody would download everybody elses email. Think about it.

When pop is first used. You should see a dialogue like this:

You should fill it in and click the box to make the OS remember the password.

Actually I made a stupid mistake: I wrote my own name instead of my e-mail address in the User Name field. Not wise :-)
