Unable to add Lightning to Mozilla Thunderbird

Asked by stu.keroff

I am using Mozilla Thunderbird 3.0.5 and want to add Lightning. The Ubuntu Software Center would not let me, so I went to Mozilla's website, and the version of Lightning there would not install into the version of Thunderbird I am using, which is the only version offered in the Ubuntu Software Center. What do I do?

The better way to do this is via Thunderbird. After starting Thunderbird, select Tools then Add-ons. In the search box put Lightning and click the magnifying glass. You should see a reference to Lightning in the list. Click on: Add to Thunderbird. (This install method insures that the version of Lightning goes with this version of Thunderbird.)

At the end of the install, restart Thunderbird. Next click on: Events and Tasks and put a check in the box next to Calendar. That should do it.

Lightning does not come up as an option on the Add Ons menu, even when asked for.

The best I can recommend for now is a close read of the page at:

Sorry for the trouble. Lightning appears to be missing on my Dell Mini-9. It won't install on my Mini-9 either. I'm using Lightning on my computer with regular install of 10.04 and must have been confused.

Can you help with this problem?
