How to remove the general pass for Thunderbird?

Asked by tashi

Hi to you all.

I'd like to know how to remove my master password set for thunderbird, to protect the mails?
I wonder on this because a few days ago, I did set a password, but I forgot it... And now, I can't any-more access to my mails! So I'd like to know where is stocked that master password? I suppose it is inside the ~/.mozilla-thunderbird/mails.default/, but I don't know where yet...

Could someone tell me where it it?
Thanks a million, because if no I would have to download once again all my emails! (and it has got quite big now!)

There are lots of Linux users who don't care how the kernel works, but
only want to use it. That is a tribute to how good Linux is.

Ok, thanks!
I'm gonna watch!

But don't mistake, I'd like to understand how the Kernel works, I simply don't have enough time to spend for it!
(but Linus is right here, once again...)

No, actually it did not, because nowhere in those websites is an explanation about how and where the master password is stored...

And so, I thought that maybe someone here could know something about it... Is it the case? Cause for the moment, I still don't have my pass back, and I can't any-more look at my mails on my laptop, maybe I should restart a new Thunderbird folder, and copy back all my data inside, but I don't even know if the pass would come back with it!

Si I still need more help on this, thanks to answer if ever you know where is that master password written, and how this stored. Maybe I could even try to crack it back with john password cracker for example, might be long but my computer could be working all day+night long!

Ok, no one knows the solution. I'll just save the pass, for instance in a file in a precise place...
Thank you all for your help, and Vikram Dhillon I'll keep the links...
