Hmm. Hard to say, actually. I think the list was shown when starting the new one, maybe, then there was an error, during the actual start up, in a sort of off color, yellowish, box, during the step where updates to the addons would normally happen, which said that there had been a problem installing new version of the addons. The original list is the one that always shows up when patching versions, and a conflict happens, so I am pretty sure it happened when ever that does normally. But the error happened "during" the update for new addons, so.. I think that happens during start up, not in the old one.

In any case, I think Firefox does realize something went wrong, hence the error message, during the step where download of the addons would happen, after starting up, but it didn't know what to do about it.
