Thunar - strange error message when copying files with colon in their name to an SMB share

Asked by Phil Pemberton on 2018-10-04

Steps to reproduce:

- Export a reply to an email using e.g. Thunderbird. Use the default filename e.g. "Re: A quick message.eml"
- Attempt to move this file to an SMB share using Thunar (file manager)

What happened:
- Error message "No such file or directory, do you want to skip it?" appears.

What I expected to happen:
- Operation to succeed, or an error message explaining that colons are not allowed in filenames on SMB shares.
