"Open terminal" option disappeared in Thunar context menu

Asked by Qianqian Fang

I have a couple of Ubuntu boxes running Xubuntu 12.04 LTS. In those boxes, the "Open in terminal" (or alike) option is not available in Thunar (1.2.3).

At home, I have a computer running Xubuntu 14.04 LTS. The context menu has the terminal options.

If this is a bug that was fixed in 14.04, it would be nice to have it in 12.04. Otherwise, I'd like to know what was wrong with my 12.04 thunar.

thanks

You can use CTRL + ALT + T to open a terminal, or do you want the terminal to open in the location Thunar is pointing?

If you use the terminal a lot I can recommend Guake (or Yakuake if you use KDE). It's a hidable terminal that shows and hides when you press it's shortcut (F12 by default)

I have launchers to launch terminal, so the shortcut is not really what I am looking for.

for Thunar, I want to open the terminal at the current directory. This feature has been working for many years (since I switch my desktop to Ubuntu in 2005), but regressed recently in 12.04. I just felt it is worth to fix.
