Thunar: arrange files

No, Thunar does not have the ability to remember folder-specific sorting modes, though it is a feature that people have requested over the years (see http://<email address hidden>/msg02627.html and http://bugzilla.xfce.org/show_bug.cgi?id=4661). In addition to the obvious reasons for wanting it, there are some reasonable arguments against implementing it, but perhaps someday it Thunar will have it.

If you just want to have multiple Thunar windows up at the same time with different sorting modes, that's no problem. But Thunar won't remember them, and the sorting mode in the Thunar window you create next will be whatever sorting mode you set last (on any Thunar window).

i have to say: thunar is really great!

it's much faster and more stable than nautilus.

when you open a folder with many pictures, thunar will show the
previews of the pictures immediately.

nautilus needs some minutes until all previews are loaded and often
crashes down.
