As mentioned in https://bugzilla.xfce.org/show_bug.cgi?id=11450#c20 , I did a GIT bisect using default configure options (debugging disabled), and identified the commit. Which means I was able to regularly reproduce the bug by building GIT from source (NOT using the PPA).

Would it help if I compiled 5bce93830d1005273a4af0fc45417418c671f28c with debugging enabled and provided a gdb trace?
