Why is there no thrift-java package?

Asked by HappyCamper

Hi

bionic has a libthrift-java, so I would expect a thrift-java package on Focal+. On my 20.04. thrift-0.13.0 builds the Java part fine.
It does require one modifcation to the source:

Edit thrift-0.13.0/lib/java/gradle.properties such that

mvn.repo=http://repo1.maven.org/maven2

becomes

mvn.repo=https://repo1.maven.org/maven2

i.e. uses HTTPS for downloading dependencies.
