Update thinkfan to latest version (1.2)

Asked by Lukasz Marcinowski

The Ubuntu repository version of thinkfan is 0.9.3-2 where in the git repository the latest version is 1.2.2. Is it possible to update to current version?

I do not want to install from sources, I would like new version from Ubuntu repository.

I suggest you report a bug. If the bug and security fixes are significant then the package will be updated sooner rather than later

Additionally you have to take into account that Ubuntu is copying packages from Debian (to avoid double packaging work) and also on Debian the thinkfan package is only on version 0.9.3.

There is already a bug report in the Debian bug tracker requesting an upgrade to version 1.2.1 - https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=961300
If you create a bug report in the Ubuntu bug tracker, please copy that Debian bug link as reference.
You can expect that as soon as Debian packages the new version, it will be incorporated into Ubuntu's development release (but will not automatically be backported to older Ubuntu releases).

Can you help with this problem?
