Why ancient version of enumitem package?

Asked by Brett Presnell

This really concerns the texlive-latex-extra package, but for some reason the link put me here. Anyway, I'm wondering why this package contains Version 1.1 (2005/05/12) of enumitem.sty rather than the current Version 2.1 (2007/06/30), which obviously has been out for some time now. This may go all the way back up through Debian to the texlive maintainers, but I thought I would start here since I am using Ubuntu 8.10 (Intrepid).

Ubuntu just uses what TeXLive provides. Skip Debian and go straight to TeXLive.

TeXLive 2008 (included in Ubuntu 9.04) comes with a package manager so updating tex packages is a bit simpler.

Can you help with this problem?
